Getting Started!

Getting Started!

Aloha from Maui! I am so excited to be starting out on this new adventure in my career. If you are not already familiar with Trevor Trey let me start out by saying that with love everything is possible. Passion is what drives me every day to do my best to succeed and fail. As Will Smith said, "Fail hard, fail often, fail forward." I am a living testament to this and I will continue this path to the next adventure.

We can go back to the beginning of my career in fashion. I always knew I had a keen eye for style, even as a young kid. Looking to the prominent women in my life showing me what beauty was and within that I had found my love of textiles and garments. My first sketches were drawn with any knowledge of this at 14 and at 16 I had my first job at Hancock Fabrics! My wonderful mom, Debbie, gifted me my first singer sewing machine for my 16th birthday and from there I took off!

I sewed often! I made EVERYTHING! I paid close attention to the couture fashion houses Europe and Italy. Fell in love with luxury and the history of Fashion. I was given the opportunity to make some glamourous gowns for my sisters and best friends in my late teens. I was even asked to make all of the gowns for my sister, Alicia's wedding. I was blessed!

Unfortunately, I was unable to see that for far too many years. Due to my rocky childhood leaving scars that never healed I dove into many years of spiral and chaos. Just confused a lot. Stopped sewing for a long time and thought I would never do it again. There was always a pilot light lit though. That never went out. And one day it was ignited back into a flame. I got a few great gigs to learn and grow and from there I knew it was time for a major change.

I left Sacramento and moved some suitcases, a few boxes and my sewing machine to Portland, Oregon. I met some drag queens and began sewing under pressure for them making some serious garments! From there I progressed my talent truly once I was introduced to my partner, Carlos. He gained me access to mentors and clients and inspirations that only I could see in dreams. From there was born my first collection of fun underpants made of spandex! I also launched with that collection faux-fur coats and other read-to-wear garments directed towards rave and TTITD culture. I soon discovered Maui and the inspirations it held for me.

After a few visits we knew that Maui would become our new home. Maui can be a generous place for those who can be generous in return. I am grateful to have found some clients on this island that have given me continuous work in my field as well as inspiring me to build my factory and launch my first Resort Wear collection this November. Many of the pieces will be featured during this time period and will be added to my webstore for purchase!

Thank you all for reading and I truly look forward to a bright future bringing the Island of Maui and the world quality-made, affordable luxury garments!
